Janeé Pelletier, CMP, chief operating officer for Conference Logistics Consultants, a meeting planning and consulting firm specializing in international conference management, understands that personalization is the way to the media’s heart.

“We do a lot of work with medical and scientific meetings that are pretty academic and a lot of that doesn’t really interest the media,” she says. “But we still want the publicity, so we go through the program and try to identify the top 10 or so things we think will interest the media and we develop a media preview, then personalize it to those people who will most likely have an interest in what we’re presenting. And if someone let’s us know they’re interested, we’ll arrange a private showing for them.”
